Underestimated

Underestimated (1)

She underestimated her body.
When he asked her out.
She underestimated her eyes.
When he brought her flowers.
She underestimated her smile.
When she caught him looking.
She underestimated her tears.
When they disagreed.
She underestimated that dress.
When he couldn’t not look.
She underestimated her feelings.
When they first kissed.
She underestimated her heart.
When he said “I love you”.
She underestimated every single thing.
That he found amazing in her.

Without Knowing Your Name

Without Knowing Your Name

I’ve written about you
Without knowing your name
    thought on your beauty
Without knowing your name
    wrestled in arguments
Without knowing your name
    dreamed unending
Without knowing your name
    adored your responses
Without knowing your name
    loved how you think
Without knowing your name
    kissed your lips
Without knowing your name
I may have just met you
Without knowing your name
Without speaking I know you
Without knowing your name
I’ve always loved you
Without knowing your name

I still love you

I still love you

Removed all traces
Memories were cleared
Loss forgotten
Hurt still revered
Lonely was peaceful
Words less loud
Life more simple
Covered under cloud
If only the heart
Understood what was found
She could breath easier
Trust feelings not bound
Awoke in the evening
Breaths heaving in sound
Sat up in bed
Realizing Love was her compound

Where

Where

Where were you when she woke?
    when she cried?
Where were you when she dreamed?
    when she was lonely?
    when she was lost?
Where were you when she was hungry?
when she couldn’t get out of bed?
    when she couldn’t move?
Where were you?
Why? Why?
Look what you’ve done!
You destroyed her!
And now,  Now!
I’m going to have to try to put her together again.

Sailing

Sailing

She
    wrestled with his thoughts
    wandered about his dreams
    interrupted his serenity
    by ironing out his extremes
She
    mangled his plans
    adjusted his trail
    all the while together
bringing their hearts to full sail
He
woke one morning, unrecognizable to him
She
had transformed their life into a beautiful hymn.
