Wildfire

Wildfire

I’ve picked clean
This starlit sky
Given to me before I die
In wanton pleasure
I burned these gifts
Treasures so pure
Thrown off cliffs
In arrogance admire
Alone and hungry
I stare oft no inspire
Once a forest
Now only a wildfire

Penned

Penned

She penned
Her verse
Eye opening
Slightly terse…
“This envelope sealed
Comforting
Congealed
I long for you to
Open
Melt this glue
Cleanse warm sudsy
Soap-in
Rip tear
Demolish these
Folds
Undo this fabric
Open and
Free me
Remove these
White washed
Clothes”

Sparrow

Sparrow

Narrow the trail
Lost to the eye
Other widely paved
Fertile drawn nigh
Hidden secrets unknown
Naught exit bemoan
Strength not built
From the simplest of trial
This heart treads narrow
Tempestuous aisle
Wandering with purpose
Paths fraught in peril
Hope unending
in flight as the sparrow
